Artist Profile: Susanna Rose Sykes
Our artist in residence Susy, Ive known since she was still in school and I used to go and hang out at her house as I loved the warm embrace of being in her family home with 2 other siblings and a constant flow of interesting people from across the world on exchange. We then used to bump into eachother late at night in a Fitzroy beer garden smoking section during our crossover time in Melbourne.
Over the years Ive watched her creativity grow and evolve, and now that we are both back on the Sunshine Coast Im so pleased to be able to have a space to showcase her work.

Her profound understanding of space and design, honed through her extensive background in set and graphic design, informs every brushstroke, giving life to her remarkable creations.
In her works, Susanna employs the positioning of different colours as a narrative tool. Each hue, each stroke, is carefully orchestrated to convey the subtle nuances of her subjects' experiences. It is in this meticulous arrangement of colours that she tells her stories, unveiling the uncharted territory of the human soul.
